Vol. 571 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Willie Penrose

Question:

172 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will consider putting in place a school bus, to bring children from Mullingar to a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21762/03]

The position generally is that a primary school transport service may be established where there are at least seven eligible pupils offering for transport to the nearest school from a distinct locality. In order to be eligible for transport pupils must reside two miles or more from, and be attending, the nearest national school or school of amalgamation.

If the Deputy provides details of the names and addresses of the pupils offering for transport my Department will have the case investigated as a matter of urgency.
