Question:

75 Mr. Kenny asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of staff employed by her Department; the bodies within its aegis which are covered by the benchmarking agreement; the projected costs in 2004 of paying this award; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21641/03]

There are currently 1,012 staff employed in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment. The following agencies come under the remit of the Department and are covered by the benchmarking agreement: Enterprise Ireland, Industrial Development Authority, FÁS, Health and Safety Authority, Shannon Development, National Standards Authority of Ireland, Forfás and Science Foundation Ireland.

The projected costs in 2004 of paying the benchmarking agreement to staff in the Department is €1.8 million. It is estimated that €10.29 million will be required to pay the benchmarking agreement to the 4,278 staff employed in the agencies under the aegis of the Department.
