Vol. 571 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

251 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Finance his views on whether the present bicycle mileage allowance is adequate; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22431/03]

The purpose of the bicycle mileage allowance is to compensate staff for costs arising from the use of their own bicycles for official purposes. While the current rate of 6 cent per mile was set some time ago, officials in my Department are reviewing the methodology for determining the appropriate rates of payment.
