Vol. 571 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Accommodation.

Joe Sherlock

Question:

412 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the extension of Kanturk Geriatric Hospital, Kanturk, County Cork, and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22023/03]

Responsibility for the provision of health services in Cork rests with the Southern Health Board in the first instance. The board included a proposal to develop an 18-bed extension to Kanturk Community Hospital as part of the National Development Plan 2000-2006. The Southern Health Board has submitted a draft planning brief for the project to my Department. This is currently under consideration in the context of overall funding available. My Department will continue to liaise closely with the board in this matter.
