Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Question:

184 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the action she has taken or plans to take following the announcement of the closure of a plant (details supplied) in Dublin 6W to ensure that the 164 affected workers are employed in alternative employment. [21947/03]

The closure of the plant in Terenure is part of a major corporate restructuring programme. Enterprise Ireland has been working with the company to encourage new product development and enhancement of its export strategy and has approved support for this purpose in respect of the company's plant in Coolock. As regards alternative employment for the workers in Terenure, the services of FÁS have been made available to them. Staff of FÁS have made presentations to workers outlining the range of FÁS services available, including career counselling, training and job placement opportunities.
