Written Answers. - Penalty Points System.
Work is well under way on the development of the fixed charge processing system, FCPS, in the Garda Síochána which will facilitate the full implementation of the penalty points system. The Garda Síochána is partnering with external consultants to build and implement the FCPS system. When the contract was signed in September 2002, it was stated that development of the system would be completed by the first quarter of 2004 with implementation by the Garda Síochána to commence in the second quarter of 2004.
