Vol. 573 No. 2

Written Answers. - National Age Card.

Charlie O'Connor

Question:

165 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the actions he is taking to promote the national age card; if his attention has been drawn to the view that application forms should be available other than just at Garda stations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24703/03]

My Department promotes the national age card by means of television and radio advertising campaigns and posters. Advantage is taken of any suitable opportunity to increase the public awareness of the legislation. Application forms are available at all Garda stations and can also be downloaded from the Internet. At various times throughout the year, the forms are made available at other effective locations, such as fresher week in the colleges. I understand that this week they will be available at the Ideal Homes exhibition.
