314 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if he has received a comprehensive report dealing with the landslides at Pollathomas and Glengad prepared for consultants by Mayo County Council; if he has examined this report; his views on the findings of the report; the nature of assistance, compensation or other support that his Department is prepared to offer the tenants and landowners in the areas affected. [26758/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 312 and 314 together.

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 3 of 16 October. It set out my Department's engagement with this matter and my commitment to ensure appropriate assistance to the council in its efforts to assist local people and restore the infrastructure of the area.

Recently the council submitted a detailed report on the landslides at Dooncarton, Glengad, Barnachuille and Pollathomas, County Mayo. My Department is examining it and a response will issue to the council as soon as possible.

With regard to the humanitarian aid scheme being implemented by the Office of Public Works through the Red Cross, assessment by the Red Cross of all aid applications received under the scheme is almost complete and payments will be determined in the near future.
