Vol. 574 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Michael Ring

Question:

188 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the obligations his Department or the health board have to a person employed on a temporary basis who is injured in a car accident on the way to work. [27666/03]

My Department has consulted the Health Service Employers Agency and confirmed that there is no legal liability arising for a health board or my Department in the circumstances outlined by the Deputy. If an injury was sustained and resulted in an employee, whether temporary or permanent, being unfit to attend work, they would be entitled to avail of the provisions of the relevant sick leave scheme.
