Question:

145 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children the reasons the number of patients on waiting lists at Tralee General Hospital has risen by over 60% in the three months to the end of June 2003 which was the second highest increase in the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27584/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 98 and 145 together.

Responsibility for the provision of services for residents of County Kerry rests, in the first instance, with the Southern Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board to provide the information requested by the Deputy. As soon as a reply is received from the chief executive officer this information will be communicated to the Deputy.

Question No. 99 answered with Question No. 77.
