Vol. 574 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

136 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health and Children if accident and emergency facilities will continue to be available at Bantry General Hospital on a full-time basis. [27388/03]

There are no plans at present to alter the services provided by Bantry General Hospital. The report of the national task force on medical staffing deals with the re-organisation of acute hospital services in two regions, the East Coast Area Health Board and the Mid-Western Regional Health Board. A second report will consider the role of acute hospital services in the rest of the country and I anticipate that Bantry General Hospital will be examined in this context.
