140 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo can receive financial assistance towards the cost of their special needs teaching at home; and the reason officials from his Department did not contact the family in question, as promised in a previous reply. My Department does not have any record of receiving an application for home tuition for the person referred to by the Deputy. My officials have written to the family in question concerning the matter and any application received will be considered.
My Department is currently processing a significant number of applications for home tuition and every effort is made to deal with each case as quickly as possible.
