Vol. 575 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cycle Facilities.

Paul Nicholas Gogarty

Question:

67 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Transport the level of expenditure on cycling facilities in Dublin in 2003, excluding the projects carried out in conjunction with quality bus corridors; the expected expenditure in 2004; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27806/03]

Significant work is being undertaken on the provision of cycle lanes and cycle parking facilities by the Dublin Transportation Office, in conjunction with the local authorities in the greater Dublin Area. This work is being facilitated to a great extent by traffic management grant funding administered by the DTO.

The final outturn in 2003 from the Dublin Tranport Office for cycle facilities is estimated to be €3.7 million, exclusive of the extensive provision along QBCs. This figure does not include the 10% co-funding from the local authorities.
The projects to be funded in 2004 have yet to be determined by the Dublin Transportation Office in association with the relevant agencies.
