Written Answers. - Rail Accidents.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

69 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Transport the main findings of the preliminary report submitted to him on 10 October 2003 regarding the derailment of a bulk cement train at Cahir viaduct on 7 October 2003; when he expects that the Limerick Junction-Waterford line will be reopened; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27840/03]

I published in full the chief railway inspecting officer's interim report into the Cahir derailment on 14 October last. The report is available on my Department's website www.transport.ie and I am sending a copy directly to the Deputy.

I am advised by Iarnród Éireann that repairs to the viaduct are expected to be completed by mid-2004 at the latest.
