Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make a statement in relation to the security situation at a school (details supplied); if the concerns of the school will be met; and if assistance will be provided in having the necessary security provisions provided. An application for grant aid for improved security measures at the school to which the Deputy refers was recently received in my Department. On foot of this application, the school authority has been instructed to obtain quotations for the proposed works. When these quotations have been received, the project will be considered in the context of the capital programme for 2004.
