Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Seán Ryan

Question:

185 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the progress in respect of the proposed extension and refurbishment of Ballyboughal national school, County Dublin; and when the approval will be given for the work. [28188/03]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department recently sanctioned grant aid of €117,659.59 for the provision of two temporary classrooms at Ballyboughal national school. A large scale building project for Ballyboughal national school is listed in section six of the 2003 school building programme, which is published on my Department's website at www.education.ie This project is at stage four to five, pre-tender documents, of architectural planning. It has been assigned a band three rating by my Department in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large scale projects.

I intend to publish details of the 2004 school building programme by early January at the latest. The programme will clarify what progress is planned for projects, such as Ballyboughal national school, during 2004.
