Vol. 575 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Paul McGrath

Question:

197 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science when he intends to purchase a site for St. Patrick's national school, Diswellstown, Dublin 15; the timeframe for the purchase of the land and the provision of buildings for same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28312/03]

Fingal County Council has reserved a site for a new primary school at Diswellstown in Dublin 15. This site is the preferred option for the location of a permanent school building for St. Patrick's national school. The property management section of the Office of Public Works, which acts on behalf of my Department as regards site acquisitions generally, is exploring the possibility of acquiring the site. The timing of when the site purchase and construction of the project can proceed is dependent on the financial allocation for 2004 and subsequent years and the competing priorities for that funding.
