Vol. 575 No. 3

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

252 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person, details supplied, in County Galway is not getting the type of resource and remedial teaching that their particular language problem warrants; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there has been no assessment carried out on this person to prioritise the opportunities of getting the type of attention necessary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28339/03]

The provision of health related services, including speech and language therapy, for people with physical and-or sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board with a request that she examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
