Vol. 575 No. 3

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Enda Kenny

Question:

272 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the measures he has taken since the fall of the Iraqi Government as regards citizens living and working here who need to have their passports renewed; the procedures in place for such applications to be processed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28085/03]

The renewal of Iraqi passports is not the responsibility of the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. However, my Department is aware of the current situation regarding Iraqi citizens who need to renew their Iraqi passports. In view of the special circumstances prevailing, my Department has as a temporary measure issued short-term soft-cover Irish travel documents to Iraqi citizens legally resident in the State who have applied for one. Application forms for such travel documents are available from the immigration division of my Department.

Question No. 273 answered with Question No. 66.
