Vol. 575 No. 3

Written Answers. - Child Care Services.

Denis Naughten

Question:

275 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Question No. 249 of 2 October, if he has completed the assessment of the application; when a decision will be made on same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28047/03]

A grant application for capital grant assistance from the 2000-2006 equal opportunities child care programme was received from the private child care provider in August.

All applications for grant assistance undergo a thorough assessment and appraisal process against the programme criteria by Area Development Management Limited. The child care directorate has informed me that ADM Limited is awaiting outstanding information from the applicant. When it is submitted, the application will be considered by the programme's appraisal committee, chaired by my Department, for a recommendation before I make a final decision. It would be premature of me to comment further on the application for capital grant assistance prior to the completion of the appraisal.
