Question:302 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he is considering forming a judicial council to provide oversight of the Judiciary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28319/03]

As I have previously indicated, there is a need for a judicial ethics and oversight body. Preliminary work on legislative proposals in this regard is ongoing within my Department. I hope to publish my proposals early next year.
