Vol. 575 No. 3

Written Answers. - Community Development.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

347 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if he has received representations from a project (details supplied) in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, in relation to continuation of the framework regional support agency in the south-east; if he will provide the reassurance sought by this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28137/03]

My Department has contracted with a number of regional support agencies, including the Framework Regional Support Agency, to provide support and advice to projects in the community development support programmes. All regional support agencies currently have a one year contract with the Department which is valid until 28 February 2004. Thereafter, the future arrangements for support of community development projects will be considered in light of the funding available and the findings of the review of local and community development structures which was initiated earlier this year. This review is now well advanced and I anticipate that proposals will be brought to Government emerging from the review before the end of the year.

Question No. 348 withdrawn.
