Question:142 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a decision will be made on an application for naturalisation by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 16. [28536/03]

An application for naturalisation by the person referred to by the Deputy was received in the citizenship section of my Department on 11 November 2002.
The average processing time for applications for naturalisation is approximately 15 to 18 months at this time. Consequently, it is likely that the application of the person concerned will be finalised by the middle of 2004. As soon as I have reached a decision on the matter I will inform both the applicant and the Deputy of the outcome.
