Vol. 575 No. 4

Written Answers. - Waste Management.

Joe Sherlock

Question:

62 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the progress made to date regarding his consideration of the report of the Health Research Board study commissioned by his Department into the likely effects of landfill and thermal treatment; the specific steps he intends to take to deal with the finding in the report that Ireland has insufficient resources to carry out adequate risk assessments for proposed waste management facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28455/03]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 26 of 16 October 2003. I hope that it will be possible for the discussions referred to in that reply to be concluded shortly, and I will make a more detailed statement on the matter as soon as possible thereafter.
