Vol. 575 No. 4

Written Answers. - Nuclear Plants.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

63 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the position regarding his request to the British authorities to allow Irish experts to inspect the Sellafield nuclear plant. [28458/03]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 12 of 16 October 2003. Discussion on the possibility of obtaining further access to Sellafield by Irish experts is continuing. I will be meeting my counterparts in the UK Departments of Trade and Industry and Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on 1 December 2003. As well as discussions on matters relating to nuclear safety and the environment, I intend to raise the question of RPII access to Sellafield at those meetings.
