Vol. 575 No. 5

Written Answers. - Charitable Trusts.

Dan Boyle

Question:

36 Mr. Boyle asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if concerns on the way in which charitable trusts are formed, and the uses to which they are put, are being met by his Department. [28580/03]

My Department does not have responsibility in regard to either the formation of charitable trusts or the uses to which such trusts are put. I refer the Deputy to the Law Reform Commission's Second Programme for Examination of Certain Branches of the Law with a View to their Reform: 2000-2007. The programme may be viewed on the Law Reform Commission's website at www.lawreform.ie It may be of interest to the Deputy to note that, under the branch of law relating to real and personal property, the law of trusts, including charitable trusts, is included and indicated as a topic to be given priority by the Law Reform Commission.
