Mary Upton

Question:

316 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the steps EU nationals have to follow to ensure that they will have a vote in the European elections in 2004; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28907/03]

EU citizens (apart from Irish or UK citizens), who are resident in Ireland, and other than those who were registered at the 1994 or 1999 European elections, must in accordance with EU Directive 93/109 complete an application form and declaration in order to be registered as European electors. The necessary forms are available from local authorities.

The period of inspection and amendment of the draft 2004-2005 register ended on 25 November last. Persons not included in the register may apply for entry to the supplement up to 15 working days before polling day.
