Vol. 576 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Supervision and Substitution Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

80 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will issue a circular regarding the non-payment of supervision duties carried out by substitute and part-time teachers in 2001-02, who were left out of the payment agreement; and if he will instruct boards of management in such schools in which substitute teachers took on voluntary supervision which was later deemed payable duties, to pay substitute teachers for their voluntary supervision in a once off payment for that year as a token gesture for their efforts. [29582/03]

The payment for supervision and substitution duties undertaken by substitute part-time teachers in voluntary secondary schools and community and comprehensive schools is paid by means of a grant payment to each school. The grants for the 2001-02 school year have been paid to schools. Payments under the agreed scheme for substitution and supervision for the 2001-02 school year have been finalised.
