The proposed large-scale building project for Scoil Ui Riada is listed in section 7 of the 2003 school building programme which I published on my Department's website at www.education.ie This project has been assigned a “band 2” by my Department in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large scale projects and a design team has been appointed.

I intend to publish details of the 2004 school building programme by early January at the latest. The programme will clarify what progress is planned for projects, such as Scoil Uí Riada, during 2004.

Question:

156 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if he intends to sanction the commencement of architectural planning in respect of the new building for Scoil Clocha Naofa, Kilcock, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30622/03]

An application for grant aid towards improvement works has been received from the management authorities of Scoil Choca Naofa, Kilcock. This application is being examined in the school planning section of my Department in the context of framing the capital programme for 2004. However, the timing of when any individual project can proceed is dependent on competing priorities for the financial allocation in 2004 and subsequent years.
