248 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding an application for a gym and dressing rooms by a school (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30750/03]
County Kildare Vocational Education Committee has submitted an application to my Department for the provision of a PE hall at the school referred to by the Deputy. My Department is preparing PE hall templates to standardise the construction of PE halls at second level schools. These templates will be piloted in four schools initially. Implementation of the templates is being considered in the context of the capital programme for 2004, against all other competing priorities for the funding available. The matter of providing a PE hall at the school in question will be considered when the pilot programme has been completed and evaluated.
