Question:

272 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Education and Science if funding will be provided for the restructuring of the Model School, North Road, Monaghan in 2004; if it will be considered as a pilot project similar to the 20 that he introduced nationally in 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30831/03]

The proposed large-scale building project for Monaghan Model School is listed in section 7 of the 2003 school building programme which is published on my Department's website at www.education.ie This proposed project is at stage 1 of architectural planning – initial sketch – and has been assigned a “band 4” rating by my Department in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large-scale projects. I intend to publish details of the 2004 school building programme this week. The programme will clarify what progress is planned for projects such as Monaghan Model School during 2004.

273 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the funding for the building of Knockconnon national school which is part of a special learning centre for which the foundations were put in place some 12 months ago as part of a cross Border project; his views on whether the present situation is unacceptable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30832/03]

The proposed large-scale building project for Knockconnon national school is listed in section 6 of the 2003 school building programme which I published on my Department's website at www.education.ie This proposed project is at stage 4/5 of architectural planning – pre-tender documents received – and has been assigned a “band 1” rating by my Department in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large-scale projects. I intend to publish details of the 2004 school building programme this week. The programme will clarify what progress is planned for projects such as Knockconnon national school during 2004.
