289 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science if the necessary finance to allow Castlegregory post primary school, County Kerry, to go to tender in early 2004 will be provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31097/03]

The proposed new post primary school at Castlegregory, County Kerry is listed in section 6 of the 2003 school building programme, which is published on my Department's website at www.education.ie This proposed project is at stage 4/5 of architectural planning – detail design and bill of quantities, and has been assigned a “band 2” rating by my Department in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large-scale projects. I intend to publish details of the 2004 school building programme this week. The programme will clarify what progress is planned for projects such as Castlegregory post-primary school during 2004.

The site purchase for the new post-primary school at Castlegregory, County Kerry is progressing and legal issues are being finalised. I expect contracts to be signed shortly.
