Vol. 577 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Communications.

Enda Kenny

Question:

125 Mr. Kenny asked the Taoiseach the extent of video conferencing facilities in the possession of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30871/03]

Currently there are two video conferencing systems in my Department, utilising ISDN lines installed by Eircom, at the start of this year. The first system is set up in the office of my Department's second secretary, who has responsibility for the Northern Ireland division and European and international affairs division. The second is set up in one of my Department's conference rooms. This equipment is flexible and can also be utilised in other conference rooms and a number of offices, including my Department's press centre.

I should add that video conferencing facilities will be expanded early next year to incorporate further locations within my Department and additional ISDN lines, which will allow more concurrent video conferencing.
