Question:

68 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance the total number of requests for information under the Freedom of Information Acts received by his Department in 2003; the number of requests received per month for 2003; the number of requests received per month for 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31861/03]

The Department of Finance has received 305 freedom of information requests to date in 2003. In 2002 a total of 326 freedom of information requests were received. The number of freedom of information requests received per month by the Department in 2002 and 2003 is set out in the table below. It should be borne in mind that the number of freedom of information requests received in any period can vary due to a number of factors, including which issues are topical at a particular time. The Department is committed to providing an efficient and helpful response to freedom of information requests and to assisting the public with their information inquiries.
