Dáil Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 10 Nov 2004

Vol. 592 No. 2

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31 and will call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the need to discuss the daft proposal by the Minister for Health and Children to sell land owned by health boards in a bid to temporarily fund the health service and the necessity for adequate funding to be provided by Government to ensure the delivery of a proper health service which meets the needs of the growing population of the State.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the reason a 62 year old Mayo man has been waiting since last April to be admitted to University College Hospital, Galway, for treatment of a tumour of the kidney which is thought to be malignant and was diagnosed by scan at Mayo General Hospital seven months ago.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the implications for the health service and beef industry of the confirmation of a case of variant CJD in an Irish patient and the need for the Tánaiste to take all necessary steps to ensure there are no further cases of the disease.

Having considered the matters raised, I do not consider them to be in order under Standing Order 31.
