Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31. I propose to deal with these topics separately and I will call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the need for a national cervical cancer screening programme for all women in Ireland between the ages of 25 and 60, the 90% reduction of the risk of cervical cancer with regular screening, the steady annual increase of 1.5% per year in deaths in the Republic of Ireland from cervical cancer in every year from 1978 and the sharp decrease in cervical cancer rates since the 1960s and 1970s in every other country that introduced cervical screening programmes.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children and the Health Service Executive to arrange for the appointment of a permanent consultant radiologist to Mallow General Hospital and the provision of a CT scanner.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: to allow the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to make a statement and be questioned on why he intends to permanently close Fort Mitchell Prison, Spike Island, given the large levels of public expenditure which in recent years have been spent on upgrading facilities at the prison to bring about the highest possible standards found in any Irish prison, higher than many still in operation, his undermining of the excellent education service that existed at the prison and his refusal to consider any scope for future development on the island.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the pending industrial relations crisis in our prisons following the decision of the Irish Prison Officers Association to reject proposals for organisational change within the Prison Service and the response of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to that decision.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the wide-ranging recommendations contained in the second annual report of the Inspector of Prisons and Places of Detention.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the cutback in grant aid to many community crèches, resulting in an increased child care crisis, where the present high cost of crèche places will be further exacerbated by the increased shortage of places, and the need to put in place a proper child-centred children's policy to restore the freedom for parents to play a greater role in child rearing.
Having considered the matters raised, I do not consider them to be in order under Standing Order 31.
