Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy James Bannon — to provide urgent core funding for the continuation and expansion of osteoporosis services, which are currently provided by the Irish Osteoporosis Society, which is a charitable organisation and is surviving with a skeleton staff of two to cover the entire country and which will be forced to close without such funding, leaving the public and health professionals without a point of contact; (2) Deputy Paul Connaughton — the total restriction on all building and development work at Mountbellew, Ballinasloe, County Galway as per the recent decision of An Bord Pleanála unless a new sewage treatment plant is approved of; (3) Deputy Charlie O'Connor — the need to develop an action plan to deal with the loss of 220 jobs at a factory (details supplied) in Dublin 24; (4) Deputy Martin Ferris — the job losses at a factory (details supplied) in Tralee; (5) Deputy Seán Barrett — the inordinate delay in providing vital speech and language therapy services for a five-year-old child (details supplied) who has been placed on a minimum one-year waiting list, having previously waited 12 months for assessment for this service, and many other similar cases; (6) Deputy Seymour Crawford — the proposed removal from call of Monaghan General Hospital; (7) Deputy Dan Neville — the report from the Irish Psychiatric Association entitled The Lie of the Land; (8) Deputy Seán Sherlock — why Mallow General Hospital's budget has been cut by over €500,000, why the consultant radiographer has not yet been appointed, to outline the future of the hospital and to ask if the future of its accident and emergency service is secure; (9) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — the serious problem facing the orthodontic services in the Kerry area as outlined in a recent internal report by a senior orthodontic consultant; (10) Deputy Billy Timmins — the plans in place to seek replacement industry in Arklow in view of the announcement of 350 job losses; (11) Deputy Pat Breen — to provide emergency funding and to liaise with Clare County Council to alleviate the present unsatisfactory position regarding the Ballyea Water Scheme in County Clare where water rationing has commenced in January; (12) Deputy Joe Costello — to name the date for the forthcoming referendum on the Lisbon reform treaty; (13) Deputies Brian Hayes and Andrew Doyle — the need to address the issues arising from the High Court case in which a family will now be liable to pay considerable legal costs; (14) Deputy Andrew Doyle — the national implications of the findings of the High Court concerning Government support for the education of the autistic child (details supplied) on all Irish autistic children's education; (15) Deputy Arthur Morgan — the recent spate of job losses across the State including today's announcement that an Arklow based pharmaceutical plant (details supplied) is to close next year with the loss of 350 jobs, the announcement last week that a factory in Tallaght (details supplied) is to close with the loss of 220 jobs, the decision (details supplied) of a factory to close its plant in Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon with the loss of up to 240 jobs and the necessity for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline what steps were taken to avert the loss of these jobs and what steps are being taken to create alternative employment for those affected; (16) Deputy Tom Sheahan — in light of the excellent facility that is Valentia coast guard station and the Government's dwindling resources if the Minister would consider dropping his proposals to close Valentia coast guard station; and (17) Deputy David Stanton — to debate the matter of the construction of a new premises for the gaelscoil in Midleton, County Cork given that there is a site available for same as a matter of urgency.

The matters raised by Deputies Seymour Crawford, Charlie O'Connor, Billy Timmins and Brian Hayes and Andrew Doyle have been selected for discussion.
