Vol. 648 No. 4

Local Elections Bill 2008: First Stage.

I move:

That leave be granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to repeal the Local Elections (Disclosure of Donations and Expenditure) Act 1999, to amend the Electoral Act 1997 and to provide for related matters.

Is the Bill opposed?

Question put and agreed to.

Since this is a Private Members' Bill, Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken in Private Members' time.

I move: "That the Bill be taken in Private Members' time."

Question put and agreed to.

On a point of order, I had indicated that I wished to raise a matter. I presume the Ceann Comhairle will call on me next week.

My apologies. The Deputy will be first.

I thank the Ceann Comhairle.

The first shall be last and the last shall be first.
