Vol. 676 No. 3

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32.

Anois, iarratas chun tairisceana a dhéanamh an Dáil a chur ar athló faoi Bhuan Ordú 32. We now come to a request to move the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the threat to the welfare of the Irish farming industry, which has been thrown into a cashflow crisis by the failure of the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to honour his commitment to reimburse loans taken out for the building of slatted sheds under the farm waste management scheme, under which €400 million is outstanding, while farmers unable to meet bank charges are facing ruin caused by the Minister's stubborn refusal to extend the deadline for applications, which has led to an untenable rush.

Deputies

Hear, hear.

The Minister should stand up.

I am glad he is here this morning to hear this.

Will the Deputy pay the debt?

He has misled farmers.

(Interruptions).

Tar éis breithnithe a dhéanamh ar an ní ardaithe, níl sé in ord faoi Bhuan Ordú 32. Having considered the matter raised, I do not consider it to be in order under Standing Order 32.

The real Minister for agriculture.
