Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Michael Ring — to ask the Minister for Education and Science the up-to-date position of an application for a new school building in County Mayo and to ask that the Minister would make a full statement on the matter; (2) Deputy Charles Flanagan — to raise with the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the need for clarification regarding an alleged change of Government policy in respect of the budget and location of the Equality Authority; (3) Deputy James Bannon — the necessity for all sections of the public service, including the Judiciary, to develop policies and plans for cost saving measures; (4) Deputy John Perry — to ask the Minister to make a statement on the introduction of new bilingual recordings for voice annunciators in lifts and prerecorded telephone messages in public buildings including Leinster House; I first raised this matter with the Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works by letter dated 19 September, 2007, and later by follow-up telephone calls and then another letter dated 11 November, 2008 but to date, I have received no reply to my representations; (5) Deputy Tom Hayes — in light of the serious unemployment figures released last week in regard to Tipperary South, and, taking into account the further numbers signing on from Dell, among other companies, in the constituency, if the Minister can outline her plans to tackle unemployment in the area, particularly taking into account Tipperary town; and whether there have been any further developments with any advance factories in the constituency and if she would make a statement on the issue of unemployment in Tipperary South; (6) Deputy Joe Costello — the need for the Minister for Transport to introduce a moratorium on taxi numbers; (7) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan — the urgent need for the Minister for Education and Science to ensure that the special education services mixed class at St. Helen's senior national school, Portmarnock, is fully maintained given the outstanding special education services provided at the school and if he will also ensure there are no cutbacks to the 119 special education classes across Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter; (8) Deputy Mattie McGrath — issues in regard to South Tipperary General Hospital; (9) Deputy Niall Blaney — the need to review Garda numbers in Border areas; (10) Deputy Richard Bruton — the need to indicate to Mount Temple School, Dublin 3, the steps that need to be taken prior to the commencement of construction; (11) Deputy Charlie O'Connor — to ask the Minister to confirm actions open to him to deal with the difficulties with the building programme at Ard Mhuire national school, Belgard, Tallaght; (12) Deputy Lucinda Creighton — the urgent need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to delay the Poolbeg planning scheme section 25 process, given recent revelations in the financial sector, to allow time for the commercial, financial and legal relationships between the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, Becbay Limited, Anglo Irish Bank and certain developers to be clarified; (13) Deputy Mary O'Rourke — the need to have the case of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath reviewed.

The matters raised by Deputies James Bannon, Mary O'Rourke, Niall Blaney and Richard Bruton have been selected for discussion.
