I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the names of the Members in each case: (1) Deputy Alan Shatter — the difficulties that occurred last week in discussions between an Irish delegation and the Vietnamese authorities to effect a new bilateral adoption agreement; the failure of the Government to enter into such new agreement with both Vietnam and Russia and the anxiety caused to prospective adopters due to the expiration of existing arrangements; (2) Deputy Thomas Byrne — the need to increase the level of fines in respect of illegal dumping; (3) Deputy Kieran O'Donnell — the availability of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund to workers made redundant from Dell; (4) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan — the need to proceed with regeneration projects at Moatview, Belcamp andDarndale estates, Dublin 17; (5) Deputy Dan Neville — the provision of palliative care at St. Ita's Community Hospital, Newcastle West, County Limerick; (6) Deputy James Bannon — the reason that application forms in respect of funding under the national lottery sports grants for 2009 are not yet available; and (7) Deputy Charles Flanagan — the allocation of a passport in Irish to a person (details supplied).
The matters raised by Deputies O'Donnell, Neville, Flanagan and Broughan have been selected for discussion.
