Adjournment Debate Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Terence Flanagan — the need to provide additional funding to schools to support children who are dyslexic; (2) Deputy Michael Moynihan — the need to issue funding to Freemount Housing Association, County Cork; (3) Deputy James Reilly — the need to implement a vision strategy; (4) Deputy Pat Rabbitte — the response to the report of the Migrants' Rights Centre, Hidden Messages — Overt Agenda; (5) Deputy Michael Ring — the need to ensure a proper roads infrastructure in the west of Ireland; (6) Deputy Michael McGrath — the need to proceed with the extension to Scoil Nioclais, Frankfield, Douglas, Cork; (7) Deputy Catherine Byrne — the need to re-activate a regeneration programme in Dublin in order to provide much needed suitable housing; (8) Deputy Dan Neville — the potential closure of FCJ Second Level School, Bruff, County Limerick; (9) Deputy Noel J. Coonan — the need to provide the necessary resources in clinical psychology, counselling services, speech and language services and occupational therapy services to Sacred Heart Primary School, Roscrea, County Tipperary; (10) Deputy Seán Sherlock — to seek the restoration of all dental benefits under the medical card scheme; (11) Deputy Seymour Crawford — the failure of many farm families and self employed to receive farm assist or jobseeker's allowance; (12) Deputy Frank Feighan — the continued embargo on recruitment in the HSE which is putting peoples lives at risk; (13) Deputy John Perry — pending their transfer to Knock, Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs staff transferred to Tubbercurry, County Sligo five years ago. The proposed office block at Knock did not receive planning permission. New proposals that the staff transfer to Charlestown and Kiltimagh were examined and rejected. Will the Minister now confirm that staff will remain in Tubbercurry and that any necessary work to ensure the best working conditions for staff will be carried out; (14) Deputy Lucinda Creighton — the difficulties being experienced by carers in accessing funding under the carers' allowance; (15) Deputy Joe Costello — the need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to seek an urgent meeting of the EU Council of Ministers to discuss the deadly attack by Israel, in international waters, on a convoy of ships carrying a cargo of humanitarian aid for Gaza; (16) Deputy Tom Hayes — the need to progress the Tipperary hostel project; (17) Deputy Bernard Allen — the transfer of orthopaedic services and surgery from St. Mary's Orthopaedic Hospital, Gurranabraher, Cork, to the South Infirmary Hospital which effectively rules out the possibility of St. Mary's Orthopaedic Hospital as a location for the proposed regional rehabilitation centre which has been promised for many years by this Government; (18) Deputies Liz McManus, Andrew Doyle, Joe Behan — the need to support the expansion of St. Brigid's national school, Greystones, in light of the continued growth in population in the Greystones area and the pressure on capacity in this school; and the need to support proposals from the board of management regarding redevelopment of the existing site along with the conversion of the convent building on the adjacent site which is lying vacant; (19) Deputy Kieran O'Donnell — to call on the Minister for Health and Children to make a statement on the need to provide and maintain respite care services for families in need of respite; (20) Deputy David Stanton — the future of Cobh Community Hospital, County Cork; and (21) Deputy Frank Feighan — to ask the Minister of State with responsibility for older people, Deputy Áine Brady, to give an update on reinstating day care services at the Plunkett home, Boyle. When will the new appointment be made to ensure these services will have adequate staffing levels to recommence?

The matters raised by Deputies Seymour Crawford, Catherine Byrne, Dan Neville and Tom Hayes have been selected for discussion.
