Vol. 719 No. 3

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 32. I will call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss a matter of national importance and concern: the urgent need to ensure that all matters relating to the damaged homes in Marino following the construction of the Dublin Port tunnel are resolved in a fair and proper manner; that all senior citizens — I emphasise that these are senior citizens — whose homes were damaged are compensated quickly and fairly; that all of those involved in the negotiations respect the urgent needs of the local residents; and that the Minister for Transport and the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government ensure all local residents in Marino are compensated.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of local and national importance, namely, the fine line between health cutbacks and the deliberate exposure of the population to inevitable fatalities, given the impossibility of providing a safe health service to a population of approximately 4.3 million using 30% of an already depleted budget, while a top-heavy and overmanned administrative staff remain untouched and take up 70% of available health funding.

Deputies

Hear, hear.

Having considered the matters raised, I do not consider them to be in order under Standing Order 32.

(Interruptions).

How could you do that, a Cheann Comhairle?
