Vol. 719 No. 3

Adjournment Debate Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Joanna Tuffy — the need to maintain community employment schemes and job initiative schemes in Clondalkin; (2) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — the delay in acquiring a site for the proposed new Garda station for Tralee, County Kerry; (3) Deputy Frank Feighan — the provision of a third level college in an area (details supplied) in County Leitrim; (4) Deputy James Reilly — the issue of cutbacks at Cavan General Hospital; (5) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan — the application of law in relation to an ongoing matter (details supplied); (6) Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh — the urgent need for the Minister to intervene immediately to prevent the closure of the FÁS training centre in Cabra, Dublin, which caters for 450 full-time trainees and apprentices and nearly 250 evening course trainees especially given that there is a large waiting list to get on courses there and that there are over 450,000 people on the live register, many of whom are seeking retraining, upskilling or a change in their employment directions, some of which could be catered for in a fully staffed, properly resourced and repaired FÁS centre in Cabra; (7) Deputy James Bannon — the need for the Minister for Justice and Law Reform to ensure that a person who is severely brain-damaged following a car accident and requires urgent treatment will be transferred to the care of the Department of Health and Children; (8) Deputy Olivia Mitchell — to discuss the urgent need to give the opportunity of a fresh start to persons convicted of non-serious crimes by means of spent convictions legislation to facilitate those seeking to take up work here at home and for those wishing to emigrate who would be seriously disadvantaged by mistakes of the past; (9) Deputy Dan Neville — the need to protect mental health resources in budget 2011; and (10) Deputy Joe Costello — the need for the Minister for Education and Skills to state when she will provide a permanent school building for Gaelscoil Bharra, Cabra.

The matters raised by Deputies Joanna Tuffy, Frank Feighan, James Reilly and Thomas P. Broughan have been selected for discussion.
