Vol. 727 No. 3

Finance Bill 2011: Order for Second Stage

I move:

That Second Stage be taken now.

On a point of clarification, there is an amendment to section 2 of the Finance Bill. Will that be taken out?

The spokesperson will have an opportunity to move the amendment during the debate. Regarding time limits——

I have a question.

It is an extraordinary day. The Deputy, very briefly.

This timetable sets out the date for the completion of business by this Dáil. The Taoiseach has a particular prerogative in respect of his constitutional authority and responsibility in so far as elections are concerned. Is it intended that the Dáil will meet on Tuesday?

Perhaps the Deputy might be thinking he would be interfering with my prerogative if we were to do that.

Heaven forbid.

It is down to meet next Tuesday.

We will move to the Second Stage debate of the Finance Bill. The speeches of the Minister for Finance who moves the motion and the spokespersons for Fine Gael and the Labour Party shall not exceed 30 minutes in each case. The speech of each other Member shall not exceed 20 minutes. I call the Minister for Finance, Deputy Brian Lenihan.

Question put and agreed to.
