Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Luke ‘Ming' Flanagan — the continued prohibition of the use of cannabis in Ireland; (2) Deputy Jonathan O'Brien — the future of the ferry service between Cork and Swansea; (3) Deputy Thomas Pringle — the future of rural post offices in view of the closure by An Post of Laghey post office, County Donegal, and the impact of the postal services Bill 2011; (4) Deputy Regina Doherty — the introduction of a mechanism to connect single residences in rural areas to the mains sewerage systems; (5) Deputy Patrick Nulty — the closure of beds at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown; (6) Deputy Timmy Dooley — the need to retain a designated adult cystic fibrosis physiotherapist at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick; (7) Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív — an gá atá le cead a fháil cuid de na haonaid tithíochta sóisialta ag Áras Rónáin, Cill Rónáin, Árann a athrú ó thithe sóisialta go aonad cúram príomhúil faoi chúram an HSE agus nach n-iarrfaí aon aisíoc ar an deontas a tugadh don ionad ó thárla go mbeidh sé in úsáid ag an HSE don phobal; (8) Deputy Dan Neville — the increase in persons presenting to hospitals due to deliberate self-harm; (9) Deputy Noel Harrington — the safety and transport issues involving the pier at the north harbour, Cape Clear Island, County Cork; (10) Deputy James Bannon — the need to designate Longford as a sub-office of the newly amalgamated Longford-Westmeath VEC; (11) Deputy Mattie McGrath — the reduction in funding to the nationwide community alert programme; (12) Deputy Paudie Coffey — the need to make provision for the building of a 50-bed unit following the closure of St. Brigid's ward at St. Patrick's Hospital, Waterford; (13) Deputy Joe O'Reilly — the potential for the boarding out option to be used more widely as long-term care by the Health Service Executive; (14) Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn — the postponement in the provision of funding in respect of the construction of the A5 road between Dublin and County Donegal and Derry; (15) Deputy Dessie Ellis — the postponement in the provision of funding in respect of the construction of A5 road between Dublin and County Donegal and Derry; (16) Deputy Terence Flanagan — the need to put in place annual funding for the northside community law centre, Dublin; (17) Deputy Brendan Ryan — the need to consider alternative options to the building of a monster waste water treatment plant in north County Dublin; (18) Deputy Mick Wallace — the need to stop the purchase of land in respect of the New Ross bypass, County Wexford; and (19) Deputy Charlie McConalogue — the postponement in the provision of funding in respect of the construction of the A5 road between Dublin and County Donegal and Derry.

The matters raised by Deputies Patrick Nulty, Dan Neville, Noel Harrington and Brendan Ryan have been selected for discussion.
