Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Alan Farrell - applications from the live register for positions in polling stations and count centres; (2) Deputies Simon Harris and Regina Doherty - the review of the domiciliary care allowance and the need to ensure the inclusion of children with disabilities in the review; (3) Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív - the need for CIE and Iarnród Éireann to protect their property rights and prevent encroachment onto their property in order to facilitate the development of disused railway lines; (4) Deputy Michael Healy-Rae - the need to address the long waiting list for prosthesis and orthotics for patients using the services of Scope Rehab in St. Mary's Orthopaedic Hospital, Cork; (5) Deputy Paschal Donohoe - the provision of funding in the construction phase of the Dominick Street regeneration project, Dublin; (6) Deputy Brendan Smith - the need to protect resource teaching hours for children with special educational needs; (7) Deputies Charles Flanagan and Brian Stanley - the withdrawal of public transport serving large areas of County Laois, with particular reference to Abbeyleix, Durrow, Johnstown and Cullahill; (8) Deputy Jerry Buttimer - the need for the SUSI online student grant application to facilitate self-employed persons submitting their most recent complete set of accounts; (9) Deputy Patrick O'Donovan - the need to provide for continuity of education for young adults with disabilities and special needs in County Limerick; (10) Deputy Martin Ferris - the need for a universal social obligation in respect of mobile phone coverage; (11) Deputy Seamus Kirk - the need to take action against school book publishers which are failing to abide by the code of practice for new or revised editions of textbooks; (12) Deputy Jack Wall - the need for the HSE to review the decision to refuse a person (details supplied) in County Carlow permission to change primary schools; (13) Deputy Brendan Griffin - the need for mobile phone coverage to be maintained at the highest standards in rural areas; (14) Deputy Charlie McConalogue - the need to ensure sufficient numbers of social workers in the provision of child protection services and the need to maximise inter-agency co-operation to deal with suspected child abuse cases; (15) Deputy Willie O'Dea - the contacts there have been between officials in the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and the Department of Social Protection regarding proposed changes to the sick pay regime; (16) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan - the need to initiate a national road safety campaign; (17) Deputy Seán Kyne - the need to regulate in respect of private debt management companies; (18) Deputy Billy Kelleher - the use to which the unused X-ray machine at the HSE centre at the Ballymun civic offices in Dublin will be put; (19) Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett - the new rent allowance limits, their effectiveness in forcing landlords to reduce rents and the impact on the need for emergency housing; (20) Deputy Pearse Doherty - the impact of recent changes to the school transport schemes on children in County Donegal.

The matters raised by Deputies Jerry Buttimer, Séamus Kirk, Jack Wall and Charles Flanagan and Brian Stanley have been selected for discussion.
