Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Joe McHugh - all-island opportunities for developing a lighthouse tourism trail around the Irish coastline; (2) Deputy Ray Butler - high loan refusal rates are hindering the recovery of SMEs; (3) Deputy James Bannon - the need to provide adequate funding to St. Christopher's services, Longford; (4) Deputy Clare Daly - the need for enhanced advertising standards in light of the controversial Youth Defence anti-abortion advertising campaign; (5) Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív - the need for CIE and Iarnród Éireann to protect their property rights and encroachment onto their property to facilitate the development of disused railway lines; (6) Deputy Paschal Donohoe - the provision of funding in respect of the construction phase of the Dominick Street regeneration project, Dublin; (7) Deputy Simon Harris and Deputy Regina Doherty - the review of the domiciliary care allowance and the need to ensure the inclusion of children with disabilities in this review; (8) Deputy Brendan Griffin - the need for mobile phone coverage to be maintained at the highest standards in rural areas; (9) Deputy Dan Neville - the role of Irish overseas aid in education; (10) Deputy Peadar Tóibín - budgetary reductions to emergency health services in the north east; (11) Deputy Micheál Martin - the need to review the decision to cut four special needs assistant, SNA, posts from Sonas special junior school in Carrigaline County Cork; (12) Deputy Michael McCarthy - the need to provide an adequate number of special needs assistants to Maria Immaculate community college, Dunmanway, County Cork; (13) Deputy Tom Hayes - the number of patients waiting on trolleys in South Tipperary General Hospital; (14) Deputy Michael Healy-Rae - the need to alter the time of year when checking of sheep is undertaken by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine; (15) Deputy Denis Naughten - the circumstances surrounding the crash of the Air Corps aeromedical ambulance based at Custume Barracks, County Westmeath; (16) Deputy Sean Fleming - the continued opening of Ballacolla and Ballinakill Garda stations, County Laois; (17) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan - the need to initiate a national road safety campaign; (18) Deputy Patrick O'Donovan - the need to provide a continuity of education in respect of young adults with disabilities and special needs in the County Limerick area; (19) Deputy Robert Troy - the need to have a contingency plan in operation if the helicopter providing the emergency aeromedical service is out of commission; (20) Deputy Billy Kelleher - the use to which the unused X-ray machine at the HSE centre at the Ballymun civic offices, Dublin, will be put; (21) Deputy Charlie McConalogue - the need to ensure sufficient numbers of social workers in the provision of child protection services and the need to maximise interagency co-operation to deal with suspected child abuse cases; (22) Deputy Willie O'Dea - the contacts there have been between officials in the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and the Department of Social Protection regarding proposed changes to the sick pay regime; (23) Deputy Aodhán Ó Ríordáin - the publication of the report by the independent child death review group and the steps the State will take to address this matter; (24) Deputy Mary Lou McDonald - the need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to respond to documentation on the public record evidencing State involvement in Bethany Home, Rathgar, Dublin; (25) Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl - the ongoing humanitarian situation with Iranian dissidents in Camp Ashraf, Iraq; (26) Deputy Mattie McGrath - the amalgamation of South and North Tipperary County Councils and the disbandment of the town councils throughout County Tipperary; (27) Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett - the new rent allowance limits, their effectiveness in forcing landlords to reduce rents and the impact on the need for emergency housing; (28) Deputy Dessie Ellis - maintenance and refurbishment of social housing in the Dublin City Council area; (29) Deputy Clare Daly - Ryanair's efforts to purchase a controlling stake in Aer Lingus; and (30) Deputy Mick Wallace - the report of the independent child death review group due to be published by Government today.

The matters raised by Deputies Naughten, Butler, McCarthy and Kelleher have been selected for discussion.
