Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Brendan Griffin - the planned closure of Island View high support mental health hostel, Caherciveen, County Kerry; (2) Deputy Joe O'Reilly - the need to show flexibility in the application of the school transport scheme; (3) Deputy Seamus Kirk - the threat of chalara found in imported ash trees; (4) Deputy Thomas Pringle - the need to address fish quotas and the discarding of over-quota fish; (5) Deputy Ciarán Lynch - the need to institute a rent-to-buy scheme in respect of NAMA properties; (6) Deputy Patrick O'Donovan - the need to update the processing system for payments in the Department of Social Protection and to allow for the sharing of information with other State bodies; (7) Deputy Paschal Donohoe - the need for a progress report on discussions that the OPW is having with the Irish Insurance Federation regarding areas at risk from flooding; (8) Deputies Thomas P. Broughan, Barry Cowen, Mick Wallace and Clare Daly - the need for an update on the resolution process for residents of Priory Hall, Dublin; (9) Deputy Michael McNamara - public order offences and violence in Ennis, County Clare; (10) Deputy John O'Mahony - the need to address the waiting times for applications for social protection, in particular carer's allowance; (11) Deputy Derek Keating - the law enforcement efforts being taken to prevent the cultivation of cannabis; (12) Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh - the need to open a new purpose built 70-bed public nursing home in Inchicore, Dublin; (13) Deputy John McGuinness - the need to complete the construction project at Loretto school, Kilkenny; (14) Deputy Billy Kelleher - the recently announced deal between the HSE, the Department of Health and the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association; (15) Deputy Michael McGrath - the need to introduce a strategy in respect of variable interest rates due to the increasing numbers of person going into mortgage arrears; (16) Deputy Kevin Humphreys - the loss of over €70 million due to delays in health insurance claims being finalised; (17) Deputy Mattie McGrath - the proposed closure by means of compulsory purchase order of level crossing XC147, County Tipperary; (18) Deputy Dessie Ellis - the continued risks to residents in the Gleann Riada estate, Longford; and (19) Deputy Mary Lou McDonald - the site for the new national children's hospital.

The matters raised by Deputies Paschal Donohoe; Joe O'Reilly; Ciarán Lynch; and Thomas P. Broughan, Barry Cowen, Mick Wallace and Clare Daly have been selected for discussion.
