Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Brendan Griffin - the planned closure of Island View high-support mental health hostel, Caherciveen, County Kerry; (2) Deputy Regina Doherty - the need to adopt a flexible approach to the admission criteria of VTOS courses and the back to education scheme; (3) Deputy Timmy Dooley - the purchase of the www.ireland.com domain by Tourism Ireland; (4) Deputy Robert Troy - the lack of broadband provision in rural parts of counties Longford and Westmeath; (5) Deputy Noel Harrington - the imminent closure by the Courts Service of the courthouses in Kinsale, Skibbereen and Clonakility, County Cork; (6) Deputy Michael McNamara - public order offences and violence in Ennis, County Clare; (7) Deputy Luke 'Ming' Flanagan - the closure of Lisbrook House, Galway; (8) Deputy Alan Farrell - the funding crisis in Irish soccer; (9) Deputy Derek Keating - the law enforcement efforts being taken to prevent the cultivation of cannabis and the trading of prescription drugs; (10) Deputy Joan Collins - the non-payment to date of the €36 million cash injection for CIE announced in July; (11) Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh - the need to open a new purpose-built 70-bed public nursing home in Inchicore, Dublin; (12) Deputy Kevin Humphreys - the loss of over €70 million due to delays in health insurance claims being finalised; (13) Deputy Mick Wallace - the raid by the Revenue's customs service on two illegal diesel laundries and the effect this illegal activity has on jobs; (14) Deputy Dara Calleary - the job losses at Abbot, Sligo; and (15) Deputy Michael Colreavy - the job losses at Abbot, Sligo.

The matters raised by Deputies Derek Keating, Kevin Humphreys, Regina Doherty and Timmy Dooley have been selected for discussion.
